The release of a new book series, The Franklin County Narrow Gauges, an in-depth historical perspective of the Franklin County narrow gauge railroads.
The first volume, The Next Stop is Rangeley, details the Phillips & Rangeley railroad and also includes the history of the Madrid and Eustis railroads, which were built by the Phillips & Rangeley. The Next Stop is Rangeley is a 312 page cloth-bound hardcover book, with over 700 quotes that cover the operations of all three railroads from 1889 to 1908. These quotes provide a firsthand account of the events that shaped the Phillips & Rangeley railroad. The volume also includes 13 previously unpublished maps of the Eustis railroad, Reed’s Mill, Dyer’s water tank, and Berlin Mills.
